Writing Thinking Architecture

this is part of the graveyard of dead abstracts project

Statement of Intent

On an intimate scale, in what way does our architecture facilitate thinking? Does it encourage thinking? How does it frame our thinking? As the act of writing changes with changes in the technology of writing, how does this change its relation to thinking? What are consequences of these changes for architecture? My project will address the act of writing as it relates to thinking and to architecture.

Process, Deliverables, Requirements

In my time at the ______ I wish to produce work for exhibition and publication. Processes engaged serially shall involve academic research, experimental research with different types of writing and computer interface technologies, and conceptual design of spaces and furniture for writing. By the end of my stay at _____ I will have produced one 10-page essay, a min. of five items of visual documentation of the experimental process, and preliminary designs for a min. of one item of furniture or space for writing. The ideal space and equipment for such a project would include a large space for experimentation, a desk for writing, an easel for painting and calligraphy, a large-scale colour plotter, basic wood working tools and wall space for pin-up, however a similar version of the same project could be conducted with a much less sophisticated working environment.
