"The nature of a free society is that it will always be the locus of a struggle between higher and lower forms of freedom. Neither side can abolish the other, but the line can be moved, never definitively but at least for some people for some time, one way or another." - Charles Taylor, 1991
oh wow! that looks really awesome. i'm curious as to how that all came together. reminds me of michel gondry.
ReplyDeleteYeah, its pretty odd . . . things come together in the strangest ways. I like composing cartography and other forms of spatial representation with collage. Mentally the space we wander through is so layered with information and I think it can be apt way of representing that. So I built this collage landscape a while ago, just for fun. There is a short by Kurosawa in which he has himself wandering through a strange dioramic landscape of Van Gogh's sunflower paintings. I just happened to have that photo of me on my computer, its from when I was hiking the Chilkoot Pass in Alaska.
